Welcome to Employment Assistance Services! We offer many services for our community members and also serve the communities of Scowlitz and Leq’a:mel First Nation.
EMPLOYMENT SERVICES:
Who Is eligible for Employment Services?
· If you are an Aboriginal person residing on Sts’ailes,
Scowlitz or Leq’a:mel bands, you qualify for all of the Employment Services
· You must be 15 years and older
· You must have a valid Social Insurance Number
What do I do first?
· To access any of the sevices list below, just
phone or come in to our office or visit one of our Outreach Offices
Resource Room
· 10 computers available for internet job research
and education related purposes
· Job Posting board and binder
· Pamphlet stands with training and education
information
Job & Career
Search
· Assistance with resumes, cover letters, faxing
and emailing
· One to One Sessions with a CDP for employment
goals, job search, creating or updating resumes and cover letters
· Referral to community or local job opportunities
· Individual Career Assessments
· Local Labor Market Information
EAS Outreach
Services
CDP’s provide employment services as follows:
· Scowlitz First Nation
Tuesdays-8:30am
to 3:30pm
· Leq’a:mel First Nation
Thursdays-8:30am
to 3:30pm
Vocational Training
This service is
for all Aboriginal people residing in our service area who require skill
development
training in order
to gain a competitive edge to secure and retain employment.
Funding Process:
· Meet with a CDP at least 2 months prior to the
start date of training
· You will be asked to do research and provide
backup documents for recognized programs
· After the application package and research is
complete, you will be required to take an assessment
· If you have followed all these steps and shown a
commitment to this process, your application will be reviewed
*Applicants interested in vocational training must be unemployed or
underemployed
**Vocational funding is extremely limited and is NOT guaranteed. Some
programs are not eligible for funding.
